Anchors are not easy to use in wordpress, and anchoring as a method of moving around a book seems like a wonderful thing. I tried many little failures to try and get it going. I finally stumbled across Better Anchor Links and off we go. This WP Plugin generates an anchor tree from a page. These anchors can also be used to do a chapter jump right to a topic.
To try and optimize this the first iteration requires assigning H tags to a lot of previously non headered stuff. That is work. Eventually I will have to get a css guru to fix the appearance of H2 and H3 as one appears “more important” than the other.
So moving through every chapter changing headers and seeing how things look and feel.
Props to Smooth Scroll for the easy on eyes movement within page and the elegant return to top icon.
