My first Gutenberg Post

I have been using WP for my web stuff for many many years and many iterations of WordPress. Like so many I am nervous about such a major change as this. My goal is to add as many Gutenberg features as possible. The following text is being added to simply test the drop cap feature of the paragraph. I don’t use drop caps at all. It is a bit odd in the editor how it only appears after one has left the paragraph in question. Okay that seems to be a difference between page and block mode.

Here is a quote in Gutenberg.

there are two parts to the quote this is the writey part
The Long Way Home by Poul Anderson. Illustrated by Kelly Freas. Scanned by Mike Moskow. Astounding Science Fiction April 1955
Cool cat observes cool car.

Images are more easily manipulated. This will be a boon for sure. Text blocks can easily be copied and moved. You will see this identical one below.

well the video block is as shitty as usual.

Oh dear. VideoPress is janky.  It looks fine on the page, but it is a crappy piece of code in the block. Why wouldn’t there be a perfectly working block for WP own and paid for video service.  Actually this pisses me off. There is no way to look at media when you create a videopress block. FFS.
